Summer Skateboarding Camp

Instructors: Top local skateboarders; 1 per group of 5 skaters (may vary based on skill and participants)
Camp will focus on beginner skateboarding fundamentals, street basics, ramp basics, and tricks. Skaters will be grouped with others of similar skill level. Skaters will learn the game of S.K.A.T.E. and will prepare for optional Saturday Open Skateboard Competition. Camp is designed for ages 8-18. Beginner and intermediate skill levels are welcome. Required Equipment: Skateboard and a helmet. Safety pads are encouraged.

Open Skateboard Competition
Skaters will be grouped by skill level; beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Each skater will be given two runs of 1 ½ minutes and scored by a panel of three judges. Competition is FREE for Summer Skateboarding Camp participants. Awards will be given to the top three in each division. Additional information will be available through the Recreation Office in June.

Free Open Skate Jam
An Open Skate Jam will be held at Huizenga Park Skate Park on Friday, July 16 from 2:00-4:00pm. Have some fun working on your skills and hanging out with fellow skaters! No registration necessary.
