SPRING/SUMMER PROGRAMS

 

FLAG FOOTBALL 

1st – 3rd Graders | Saturdays | August 4, 11, 18, 25 | 10am – 12pm | $30, Zeeland Resident | $42, Non-Resident

Come and learn the game of football in a non-contact league. This program is designed to prepare and teach players the beginning skills used in Rocket Football. Each Saturday there will be a practice from 10-11am, followed by a game from 11am-12pm. All practices and games take place at Drenthe Grove Park Green Space. For practices, Drenthe Grove green space will be broken up into eight (8) separate practice sections. Each team will require 1-2 volunteer coaches. Team shirts are included in registration. ZEELAND EAST FOOTBALL CAMP

3rd – 6th Graders | July 10-12 | 9 – 11am | Zeeland Football Stadium | $45, Zeeland Resident | $57, Non-Resident

This camp is designed to teach our young football players the fundamentals of the game. This camp will be directed Zeeland East High School Varsity head coach, Derek Pennington. Players will have the opportunity to be coached by other staff members and players. Campers will be instructed in proper football technique, rules of the game, and have an opportunity to participate in organized scrimmages. ZEELAND WEST FOOTBALL CAMP

3rd – 6th Graders | July 10-12 | 11:30am – 1:30pm | Zeeland Football Stadium | $45, Zeeland Resident | $57, Non-Resident

This camp is designed to teach our young football players the fundamentals of the game. This camp will be directed Zeeland West High School Varsity head coach, John Shillito. FALL ROCKET FOOTBALL LEAGUE

3rd – 6th graders | August 13 – October 13 | $50, Zeeland Resident | $62, Non-Resident

Rocket Football is a competitive, full pads and helmet, contact league that is run through the West Michigan Junior Football League. Zeeland teams compete against other area schools in the league. Practices begin the week of August 13th at the volunteer coach’s discretion. Games are on Saturdays from Sept 8 – Oct 13 all over west Michigan. Evenly skilled teams are formed through a draft by all coaches after registration is closed. To help form evenly skilled teams, we hold an “Ability Testing/Conditioning Week” prior to the selection of teams on August 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 9 (times and locations listed below). All participants must attend three or more of the dates listed in order to give the volunteer coaches proper time to evaluate their current skill level. Helmets, mouth guards, shoulder pads, pants with pads, cup, and football cleats must be provided by parents. To register, click here or call at (616) 748-3230. Registration deadline is June 22. 

 

What You Need to Know:

  • August 10: Teams will be selected and coaches will begin to reach out to parents to communicate practice schedules
  • Week of August 13: Practices Begin
  • Pre-Season Scrimmage: Aug 25, 9am-12pm (Location TBD)
  • Games: Saturdays from Sept 8 – Oct 13

Evenly skilled teams are formed through a draft by all coaches after registration is closed. To help form evenly skilled teams, we hold an “Ability Testing/Conditioning Week” prior to the selection of teams on August 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 9 (times and locations listed below). All participants must attend three or more of the dates listed in order to give the volunteer coaches proper time to evaluate their current skill level.

  • Chix 3rd-4th Grade (Woodbridge, Adams, Lincoln): 6pm – 7pm @ Woodbridge Elementary Field
  • Chix 5th-6th Grade (Woodbridge, Adams, Lincoln): 7pm – 8pm @ Woodbridge Elementary Field
  • Dux 3rd-4th Grade (Roosevelt, New Groningen, Quincy): 6pm – 7pm @ Quincy Elementary Field
  • Dux 5th-6th Grade (Roosevelt, New Groningen, Quincy): 7pm – 8pm @ Quincy Elementary Field
  • Students from Zeeland Christian, Charter Schools, Home School, etc. may attend either the Woodbridge or Quincy locations for the Ability Testing/Conditioning Week

Equipment Recommendations:

All participants must have a helmet, mouth guard, shoulder pads, pants with pads, cup, and football cleats. Helmets must be NOCSAE approved and stamped. Equipment can be purchased at Superior Sport Store, Dicks, MC Sports Store, Dunhams or Total Athlete (which will also sell/buy used equipment).
