Cardio & Fitness Gym

Zeeland Recreation is proud to offer a community center that includes a beautiful cardio and fitness gym to our community. The Cardio & Fitness Center offers monthly memberships as well as drop-in prices for the community to use our state-of-the-art equipment such as ellipticals, treadmills, stationary and recumbent bikes, as well as a diverse and excellent selection of weight lifting machines and free weights. A free equipment orientation with each membership and affordable pricing with no contract or start up fees are available just for you. If you’re new to fitness or would simply like guidance to help you achieve your fitness goals, our staff will be here with you every step of the way. Adult Fitness Classes

Classical Yoga Level 1 (For beginners)
This beginner classical yoga class focuses on alignment in basic standing, sitting, twisting and forward bending poses, which are introduced with progressive instructions to help you develop your strength, stamina, balance, posture and flexibility. This class is for those new to yoga or new to this method of yoga. No experience necessary. If you’re not sure between Level 1 and Level 2, try this class first and Deb (the instructor) can help you find which class best suits you at this time. Classical Yoga Level 2
This Classical yoga class is for the more experienced yoga students. Emphasis will be on increasing endurance and refining individual corrections. A wider variety of poses are studied more deeply and more complicated poses are introduced. Inversions are practiced regularly, as are backbends. Most students are encouraged to work with Deb in the beginner class, Classical Yoga Level 1, before joining Level 2. Deb can help you find which class best suits you from there. Core, Cardio & Conditioning-Beginner to intermediate level class
Strengthen and define muscles, improve your posture and create a lean, streamlined shape in this class which uses hand weights, resistance bands, resist-a-balls and other equipment to focus on the body’s core muscles.  This class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00-6:00pm.  To register online, click here (or give us a call at 616.748.3230). 

Senior Strong and Balanced
This fitness class is designed to build bone strength and enhance muscular strength and muscular endurance which is the ability to repeat a movement over and over. The areas involved with strength and balance include:

Fitness: Learn just how fit and healthy you can be.
Balance: Improve your ability to get up, stand tall and strong and go about your day.
Strength: Build strong, powerful muscles and bones.
Flexibility: End that tight feeling.
Endurance: Improve your ability to move.
Breathing: Learn how to breathe and bring greater vitality into your day.
Relaxation: Reduce the stress in your life with calm positive thoughts.

Spin
As you ride, motivating music plays as you are talked through a visualization of an outdoor cycling workout. It burns serious calories and offers an awesome aerobic workout. All fitness levels welcome.  To register online, click here (or give us a call at 616.748.3230). 

Ultimate Workout-Intermediate to advance level class
Join us for the ultimate workout experience! This class will incorporate cardiovascular, strength and core training in an ever-changing format. This class will offer a unique blend of elements that will challenge you from head to toe.  This class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:15-7:15pm.  To register online, click here (or give us a call at 616.748.3230). 

Yoga-Pilates Fusion
The yoga and Pilates combination allows people to gain the benefits of a yoga class and add core-strengthening moves that will slim their bodies. The philosophies of both make fusing the two very natural. The mind is very focused on the body and on breathing techniques. Zumba
Zumba is a high energy and fun fitness workout using Latin inspired music and dance movement. This aerobic workout will tone and sculpt your entire body. Come join the party!   To register online, click here (or give us a call at 616.748.3230). 

 

Adult Aquatics Classes

Deep H2O
For maximum water resistance try Deep H2O. What is unique about deep water exercise is that it provides a non-impact environment that uses the water’s resistance to deliver an excellent training effect for all fitness levels. Because it is designed so participants do not touch the pool bottom throughout the workout, it provides unrestricted, full range-of-motion movements for participants. A variety of exercise formats, and exercise equipment is used. This class meets from 9:00-10:00am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Zeeland West High School Natatorium.  To register online, click here (or give us a call at 616.748.3230).

H2O Energy
H2O Energy is designed for all fitness levels. A variety of class formats provide a “work-at-your-own pace” environment to achieve your own great water workout. H2O Energy uses both shallow and deep areas of the pool as well as a variety of equipment to help increase cardiovascular endurance, strength, muscle tone, balance, mobility and flexibility.  This class meets from 7:00-8:00pm on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at our Cityside Middle School pools.  To register online, click here (or give us a call at 616.748.3230).

Midday Movers H2O 
Midday Movers H2O is much like Sunrise Stretch and Stride H2O, but with an added moderate aerobic segment. It doesn’t matter what age or ability you are, this class will enhance and improve your overall health. Sunrise Stretch and Stride H2O
This class is for the early riser! Regardless of age or ability, Sunrise Stretch and Stride H2O is a low-impact water exercise class that will enhance and improve your overall health. Functional ability will increase with improved muscle strength, flexibility, coordination and balance. This is also a great class to meet new friends. Sunrise Stretch and Stride is ideal for older adults, those that want to exercise at a slower, easier pace, and for individuals with health conditions or physical limitations.  This class meets from 7:00-8:00am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at our Cityside Middle School pools.  To register online, click here (or give us a call at 616.748.3230). 

Water Fitness
Participants are welcome for lap swimming or water walking during Water Fitness. Barbells, fins, kickboards, noodles, pull buoys and exercise belts are available to enhance your water workout. Payment Options

All fitness and aquatics classes are broken up into sessions to simplify payments and schedules. There are three easy ways to pay for a class or classes:

  1. Reserve your spot for each class in that session by enrolling for an entire session and paying $3 per class.
  2. Drop-in for a class without pre-enrolling and pay $4 per class (if the class isn’t full with pre-enrollment)
  3. Buy an “Adult Fitness Punch Card” for $30 and attend 10 classes of your choice (more details below)

Adult Fitness Punch Cards
Adult Fitness Punch Cards may be used for all  adult aquatic classes, adult fitness classes. Water Fitness, and the cardio and fitness room. Purchasing a punch card for $30 allows you to attend any 10 of those classes/workouts of your choice. Punch cards do not have an expiration date. They are non-refundable.
