DEEP H20

Deep water exercise uses the water’s resistance to deliver an excellent training effect for all fitness levels. ENERGY H20

LAP SWIMMING / WATER WALKING

The Zeeland Recreation pools are available for your use for lap swimming and deep and shallow water walking. Barbells, fins, kickboards, noodles, pull buoys and exercise belts are available to enhance your water workout. Fitness Center members have access to this option for no extra cost anytime it is offered on our aquatics calendars. Non-Fitness Center members can pay a $4 drop-in fee OR use a $30 “Punch Card” (10 punches). No registration needed. Just show up!

  • Lap swimming is available for those 13 yrs and older during any of our scheduled lap swimming times
  • 8-12 yr old competitive swimmers are allowed to swim in designated open lap lanes during non-peak hours (after 6:30pm M-F and after 9am on Sat). Parents of 8-12 yr olds must be on deck or in the water supervising their child.
  • Split lane swimming is appropriate when there are two swimmers in a lane
  • Swim counter-clockwise (or “circle swim”) when there are three or more swimmers in a lane
  • All lanes are shared lanes and the lifeguard staff will regulate lane usage during busy times

 

MIDDAY MOVERS

This is a water exercise class designed to strengthen and tone muscles and give participants a moderate cardiovascular workout. PARENT AND TOT : PADDLE AND PLAY

Fridays | 9:45-11am | @ Zeeland Recreation Pools | $2 p/person OR $70 six month pass 
A special time in the pool for parents and youngsters to enjoy swimming and play time with friends! Open to children 5 yrs and under when accompanied by a parent. Parents must be in the water and provide supervision for their child. No registration needed… just show up!

PRIVATE ADULT SWIM LESSONS 
Adults will enjoy personalized swim lessons in a private setting. Lessons are sold in bundles of three 30-minute lessons. SUNRISE STRETCH & STRIDE

This class is for the early riser! This class is designed to strengthen and tone muscles as well as increase flexibility, coordination and balance to carry out daily tasks more efficiently. BEGINNER RUNNING CLUB: TRAIN FOR A 5K! 

$60 | Saturdays | Feb – Apr, 2018 | 10:30am | Meet @ Zeeland Recreation | Migratory 5K, Nov 11 | Instructor: Julie Lamer

Running is a great way to get fit and feel better! Are you ready? Let’s go! In this eight-week training program, you will be training three times per week (twice at home, once as a group). All training runs are with with Julie Lamer, certified group fitness trainer with over 25 years of running experience. This program will focus on gradually increasing the time and distance you run, without overemphasizing your speed. The training session will conclude with the group running together in the “Migratory 5K” on November 11 @ 10am in Holland, MI! Group training sessions will vary in length, while home sessions should take 20-30 minutes. Program fee includes training sessions, a 10-visit adult fitness punch card, and the race registration fee. Registration will open in mid-winter, 2018. 

 

BOOTY BUSTIN’ BARRE (June-July only)

A complete body workout! Tone your muscles through hip hop, ballet, and various other dance techniques and movements. Class will target each of your muscle groups to the point of exhaustion and then stretch those muscles to promote long, lean growth instead of bulk. Registration will open in February, 2018. [NEW] CARDIO KICKBOXING

This is a combo class involving standing kickboxing techniques such as kicks, punches and bag work. This fast-paced class includes both upper and lower body movements that will rev up your heart rate and tackle those trouble zones! This beginner classical yoga class focuses on alignment in basic standing, sitting, twisting and forward bending poses, which are introduced with progressive instructions to help you develop your strength, stamina, balance, posture and flexibility. This class is for those new to yoga or new to this method of yoga. No experience necessary. CLASSICAL YOGA, LEVEL 2

This Classical yoga class is for the more experienced yoga students. Emphasis will be on increasing endurance and refining individual corrections. A wider variety of poses are studied more deeply and more complicated poses are introduced. Inversions are practiced regularly, as are backbends. Most students are encouraged to work with Deb in the beginner class (Classical Yoga Level 1) before joining Level 2. This combination of gentle stretching followed by mindfulness practices (using imagery, sound, breath and concentrated focus) allows the body to release stress, tightness, tension and anxiety. These practices increase clarity, circulation, energy and encourage personal growth. Participants will leave feeling calm, present and enjoy a stronger sense of self. This fitness class is designed to build bone strength and enhance muscular strength and endurance (which is the ability to repeat a movement over and over). WOMEN’S SELF DEFENSE

Everyone will be happy to tell you what you should have done…after the fact. We will help you decide what you should do…before. This is a four night, six hour class focusing on the mental and physical aspects of self-defense for women. As mature content will be discussed, participants must be 13 years or older. Each class includes 30 minutes per night on the psychological aspects of self-defense and one hour of physical training. ADULT FITNESS CLASS PAYMENT OPTIONS

Our wide variety of adult aquatics classes are available a la carte to anyone 18 years of age and older. Community members have the following purchasing options:

 

Punch Cards ($30): Punch cards are good for 10 workouts or classes of your choice, without an expiration date or timeline of when you can use those punches. Punch cards can be used to participate in an adult fitness class, adult aquatic class, working out in our cardio & fitness room, or swimming laps/water walking.

 

Drop-In ($4): Drop-ins allows access to participating in an adult fitness class, adult aquatics class, working out in our cardio & fitness room, or swimming laps/water walking. No registration is necessary. Just show up and pay $4 with cash, card or a check!
